Great Ocean Road Half Marathon

A couple of weeks ago, Ian Tait successfully completed the Great Ocean Road Half Marathon in Victoria. The course was longer than a standard 21kms half marathon as it started from Kennet River and finished in Apollo Bay, a distance of 23kms. The scenery was magnificent but the road which follows the coastline was winding and hilly, making for a tough run.

While the Saturday before the race was sunny and calm, Sunday, race day, turned windy and wet. The organisation of the half marathon (and the other events) was first class, and the atmosphere in Apollo Bay very festive, with lots of supporters, both locals and visitors.

While the run was the main attraction this visit, Ian and Alison plan to return to the Great Ocean Road, perhaps in the summer, to enjoy all that this wonderful area has to offer – stunning scenery, fresh produce, boutique wineries, history and heritage and more!
