Meet Ian

Ian Tait

Principal

Ian has been practising law for over 35 years and has extensive experience as a commercial lawyer. He established Tait & Co in 1997 and is directly involved in handling all matters within the firm.

In addition to being a skilled lawyer, Ian has a good understanding of business and accounting concepts, and reads widely to stay informed on both changes to the law and what is happening in business. Ian applies his knowledge, skill and experience in a practical and down to earth manner to assist clients achieve their goals.

To achieve a client’s goals, Ian often thinks outside the box and produces innovative solutions. He likes to put in place structures and strategies that help clients grow their businesses and minimise legal risks. He gains satisfaction from resolving disputes in a way that enables clients to gain the resolution they need while allowing their businesses to continue to operate effectively.

Ian’s special areas of interest include structuring commercial transactions, commercial dispute resolution, trade marks and intellectual property protection, as well as estate planning and asset protection.

At the end of the working day, Ian enjoys being outdoors and active. His sporting activities include squash, tennis, running and hiking. Ian’s commitment to excellence in all areas is demonstrated through his sporting achievements. He gained State Colours in both tennis and squash at Junior, Senior and Masters levels. He has run marathons and ultramarathons both in Australia and overseas, although nowadays he finds it easier to fit half-marathons into his busy schedule.

In January 2014 Ian climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with his family. More recently in March 2017 Ian climbed Mt Kinabalu in Borneo. Ian also did part of the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory in September 2017 with some of his family members. In December 2019 Ian went hiking in the Annapurnas in Nepal with his wife Alison, and they also completed the Cape to Cape walk in the South West of WA in 2020.

Meet The Team

Alison Tait

B.Com. B.Com (Hons) CTA

Practice Manager & Accountant

Alison handles all administrative and financial matters for the firm. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and gained wide experience in major accountancy firms working for a variety of clients before commencing at Tait & Co in 1997.

Alison enjoyed the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2014. She also loved doing the Larapinta Trail in the Red Centre in 2017 as well as the Annapurna’s in Nepal at the end of 2019. Cape to Cape is her latest outdoor adventure, which Alison did with Ian in 2020.

Louisa Lewis

Reception & Administration

Louisa’s warm smile is usually the first point of contact for most clients of the firm. Louisa also assists Alison with administrative matters and provides Ian with support as well. Louisa enjoys spending time with her family when she is not working.
