Ian has been practising law for over 35 years and has extensive experience both as a commercial lawyer and a commercial litigator. He established Tait & Co in 1997 and is directly involved in handling and guiding all matters within the firm.
To achieve a client’s goals, Ian often thinks outside the box and produces innovative solutions. He likes to put in place structures and strategies that help clients grow their businesses and minimise risk. He gains satisfaction from resolving disputes in a way that enables the clients to gain the resolution they need while allowing their businesses to continue to operate effectively.
Ian’s special areas of interest include structuring commercial transactions, commercial dispute resolution and intellectual property and trade practices matters.
Ian works closely with the members of the firm’s legal team and ensures all work meets the high standards for which Tait & Co is known.
At the end of the working day, Ian enjoys being outdoors and active. His sports activities include squash, tennis, running and hiking. Ian’s commitment to excellence in all areas is demonstrated through his sporting achievements. He gained State Colours in both tennis and squash at Junior, Senior and Masters levels. He has run marathons and ultramarathons both in Australia and overseas, although nowadays he finds it easier to fit half-marathons into his busy schedule. In January 2014 Ian climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with his family. More recently in March 2017 Ian climbed Mt Kinabalu in Borneo. Ian also did part of the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory in September 2017 with some of his family members. Patagonia in Chile/Argentina is also on the must-do list for the end of 2018.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jeremiah worked as a financial consultant in Singapore. He went on to complete his law degree at the University of Western Australia and was admitted to the Supreme Court in 2013. He has experience in various aspects of commercial law and is also proficient in Chinese (Mandarin). In his spare time, Jeremiah enjoys hiking with his husky and playing futsal.

Melanie was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2016. She has a keen interest in commercial law and wills and estate planning. Melanie enjoys reading, watching TV shows, painting and knitting.

Practice Manager & Accountant
Alison handles all administrative and financial matters for the firm. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and gained wide experience in major accountancy firms working for a variety of clients before commencing at Tait & Co in 1997. Alison enjoyed the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2014.
Reception & Administration
Louisa’s warm smile is the first point of contact for most clients of the firm. Louisa also assists Alison with administrative matters and she is currently studying a Diploma in Business. Louisa enjoys hot hot summers, keeping fit and travelling.
